Alzheimer’s prevention

Doctors see patients of certain conditions year after year and easily become cautious with themselves on those conditions. Say a cardiologist who looks into blocked coronary artery every day becomes very cautious with what he eats on a daily basis. Pretty much you don’t see a cardiologist with hypercholesterolemia.

But is Alzheimer’s preventable?

It is hard to say what’s going to happen when one gets old, and therefore nobody can guarantee him or herself that he won’t get Alzheimer’s. Seriously, nobody can even guarantee to live up to the elderly age; after all, it seems that we can only control those small numbers like cholesterol levels. However, there are lots of things that we are able to do to best prepare ourselves steer away from Alzheimer’s.

Exercise in one of them. From information presented on Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) 2017, exercise reduces amyloid and tau levels in the brain. Amyloid and tau proteins are the culprits of Alzheimer’s by forming  neurofibrillary tangles and causing cognitive impairment and neurodegeneration. More than 150 minutes of exercise each week helps keep a higher level of cerebral blood infusion as well as maintain better executive functions. Exercise can be a good therapeutic approach for those Alzheimer’s with gene mutations of the amyloid.

Nutritional and emotional status are also involved in the cases of Alzheimer’s, for example, the depressive conditions in the elderly will affect the cognitive functions and thus lead to Alzheimer’s. Integrative medicine combines different factors that play roles in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s and present a comprehensive approach.

Unlike simply controlling diet and keep cholesterol levels low in cardiology, most of the medical conditions require a detailed plan to crack down each of the pathogenic aspect. There is a Chinese saying: the disease comes like a landslide; while it go away like silkworm producing silk. The diseases are multi-factors so that once formed it is slow to remove. The integrative approaches are to be planned to
